Wilma 15th May 2020

It was in summer 1968. In my homehouse in Alberschwende we just started renting guests for summer holidays. One evening three cars from GB arrived. That was a big surprise for us!!! Tony and Sheila Hemshall with their children Colin and Susan, Tonys parents, his cousin Norman and his brother Don with his family came from Mutters in Tyrol where they had spent some nice days. Tony with family and his parents stayed with my family and the other ones with Irmgard family in our neighbour house. We enjoyed the days with them very much!!! I was 12 years old and tried to speak English "with hand and feet"! From 1968 on until now we had a wonderful friendship (52 years!). Tony and Sheila were with us almost every summer until 1978 when my brother Herbert built his own apartment and we had no more guest rooms. But our friends though came every year and stayed in other guest houses in Alberschwende. We spent the days and evenings together. Even when Hans-Peter and I married in 1979 Tony and Sheila were our special guests at the wedding. In 1975 Irmgard and I visited you the first time in Oxford and until now often enjoyed staying with you in England!!! We and especially also our children liked Tony very much and often thought of him and Sheila after they were not able any more to come to Austria. Now - just in this moment - we are with you and wish you our sincere condolences!!! We will never forget Tony!!! Best wishes for you all from Wilma with all our families!!!
